Today I tried weight training. I used the machine knowed as a home gym. I did left lifts, arm pulls other exercise I don't remember the names.

It was a really good workout. It was pretty hard. I really am proud of myself for sticking to it and doing 1 hour of weight trainning.

Tomorrow I will use the Wii Fit game to workout. I can't wait it seams to be really fun.

Swimming

This morning I tried swimming. I have an above group pool attached to my house but I have always used it for relaxation and refreshment never for exercising.

It turns out that there is a lot of exercise you can do in the pool and they are all low impact. I think that exercise in the pool could be great for someone who has hurting joints. It doesn't put as much strain on the joints as other exercices.

I started by doing laps around the pool. I did about 20 laps whitout even touching the ground. I was really feeling the work out. Then I did jumping jacks in the pool. that is kind of tricky.

I also tried an excercies for toning arms by pushing a ball under the water. The water was resisting the ball making it a harder workout.

Then I did the star position to float on the water. I stayed like that for about 10 minutes always fighting the water to stay afloat.

I did a few more exercise and then redid 20 laps. Swimming was a great workout. I think I will incorporate swimming into my daily routines when ever the weather permits it.

Martial arts

Yesterday I went to a martial arts class,

The class wasn't the greatest because it was for everyone at the same time. Basicaly if you were a new martial arts student you would have to be paired with an other more experienced student who would show you what to do in order to be able to follow the rest of the group.

I really think this isn't the right way to go since you don't really learn the techniques properly since it's not a professional teaching you. Also not everyone is a good teacher. The student I was paired with was really impatient and he was rushing me and getting kind of mad when I didn't get the concept of the movement right away.

I think that if I even went to a martial arts class again I would prefer to have a few private sessions first.

Martial arts seemed interesting but I don't really know yet if I really want to try again.

Yoga

I had computer problems so I wasn't able to right in the last two days. I however had time to try yoga. I really enjoyed it. It is great for stretching and is great to remove stress from your life.

I don't know if yoga would work for weight loss but it certainly helps relaxing and getting rid of the daily stress.

I wasn't the best at doing yoga but since it was my first time I guess it was normal. I tried to do what they called a three pose. The pose consists of getting up on one leg and putting your hands together above your head. I wasn't really good at that I kept falling.

I can definitely see why so much people like yoga it was really, really fun.

Dance

Today I tried dancing. I don't really have much coordination so I wasn't that great at it.

I really tried to follow the dance moves but I really had a hard time. I am sure that is someone saw me try dancing they would've burst out laughing. I don't think I will dance again.

I still enjoyed it but I really sucked at it. Maybe if I started with learning more basic moves, maybe I could become better.

I found that dancing was a great workout because it requires the use of almost all muscles. I will have to decide if I haver want to try dancing again.

Walk off the pounds

Walking to lose weight

In order to lose weight you have to eat less but also it is really important to exercise. Not everybody is able to lift weights or do really physically challenging exercise. The solution is to walk. Walking has been part of our lives since we were babies but yet we seem to stop walking for extended periods of time once we get the use of cars and buses.

Walking will help you lose weight. Walking can be a great way to increase your fitness, keep you in good health and help you with weight loss and weight control. Here are some of the benefits of walking for weight loss, and a plan to help you start walking to lose weight today:

No other weight-loss exercise is simpler than walking. It’s something most of us already does everyday. The solution to walking off the pounds is to walk for longer periods. You could walk to and from work or you can take a walk during your lunch break.

Walking burns more Calories and increases metabolism

Walking burns almost as many calories as jogging. It is much easier on your joints and you get to enjoy nature. Walking at moderate paste can help you burn around 250 calories per hour. Brisk-walking (walking at a fast paste) can help you brun around 320 calories.

Walking burns calories while you are walking. It also increases your metabolism. Your body burn more calories in the next hours after your walk. Walking daily would mean a higher metabolism.

Weight gain can be caused by a slow metabolism. Metabolism plays a big role in our weight. Metabolism is the chemical process, used by your body to turn food into energy. You can speed up your metabolism by walking or exercising.

Just taking a daily walk could increase your metabolism. It does this in two ways: it heats up your body and in turn burns more calories during and after the walk, and it helps increase your lean muscle mass. A leaner muscle mass burns more calories.

Your body learns quickly to do things efficiently. If you walk everyday then your body will learn to do it very well and burn more calories.

Walking reduces appetite

Walking and other exercises have a suppressing effect on your appetite. Normally, after a good walk you won’t want to eat a big meal. If you find your appetite increases, your body might be trying to tell that you are thirsty. So go ahead and drink some water.

Exercise helps level out your blood sugar levels. When these levels drop too low, you tend to over-eat. Exercise supresses appetite hormones, making it easier to resist snacking. Next time you feel the need to eat an unhealthy snack, try to take a walk around the block. When you are finished, have a glass of water. After that walk you probably won’t need to ead
Some of us eat emotionally. Exercise is great for working out stress. You may just need a distraction from a stressful situation. Instead of using food, use some quick exercise. Go for a short walk.

The first thing you have to do is to set your goal. Decide to walk as often as you can. Even if it’s a 5 minutes walk to the local grocery store or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Make it your goal to walk anytime you get a chance.
Most fitness experts recommend beginning a walking program slowly. The first week start by only walking thirty minutes a day, five days a week, at a comfortable speed. Then on your second week try to include a minute of fast walking each day while still walking thrity minutes a day, 5 days a week. Then on week three try to include two minutes of fast walking or jogging. Continue week by week to build ability to walk more quickly to increase calorie burning. As your abilities increase then you can also increase time of your walks. The ideal goal would be to walk one hour of walking every day, five days a week.

So stop putting off your weight loss and start walking today.

Walking

Walking is one of the most practiced excercise in the world. It doesn't require anything specific anybody can do it.

I went for a 1 hour walk today. I brought my dog Daisy with me. I think she really enjoyed it. I started walking at a regular paste but it wasn't enough of a workout so I decided to walk just a little faster. That did the trick. I was working out and enjoying nature at the same time.

Walking is so easy to start and it's a great way to excercise. I really enjoyed it.

Trampoline

Today I didn't have the time to take a dancing class so I have decided to try trampoline. I jumped on the trampoline with my nephew for about 30 minutes. It was fun we were doing tricks, jumping and running.

It was a hard workout. Then I decided to jump non stop for 10 minutes. I had to stop after 5 minutes. I though I would have a heart attack. I never did something that hard.

I honestly don't know how the professional trampolinist can do it. It is really hard.

I am seeing an improvement in my health since I started working out but today I realized I'm still not in top shape.

Tomorrow I will try to find the time to dance.

Rollerblading

I went rollerblading today,

I really enjoy rollerblading and I think it's a great way to burn calories. The only problem is that the only street safe enough for rollerblading around my house has a major hill in it. I have became pretty good at it though. I slalom for the lenght of the hill just like you would do while downhill skiing.

Today I decided to bring my dog Daisy with me. It was kind of tricky, I was going left, Daisy was going right. I stopped and Daisy saw a cat and decided to make a run for it. I finally was able to stop but wow that dog can pull.

I did 1 hour rollerblading and when I came home I was really tired. I am going to bed now, tomorrow I will try dance.

Cycling

Today I decided to use my bicycle to do exercise so I took out my bike, my helmet and my water bottle.

I did a little research and by doing 1 hour of cycling you actually can burn around 400-500 calories.

I live in the country so there isn’t any bike trails but I decided to go along a road that is less traveled by car so it would be safer. I hadn’t used my bike for a while and I had forgotten how fun it was.

You get to see everything around you and you get to enjoy nature. You can feel the power within you pushing forward to go always faster. My goal is to loose weight so I didn’t go for a slow ride but rather I pushed myself to work harder so I would burn even more calories.

I was surprised to see how cycling can really work you hard. I think I might consider starting to cycle once a week I really enjoyed it.

Plus I read that cycling has many benefits like it promotes a healthy heart and it lowers blood pressure.

Tomorrow I will do 1 hour of rollerblade.

10 days project

I have been sick for the past week and couldn't do exercises. I haven't been able to exercises at all. I am happy to report that I am now feeling better.

I have decided that for the next 10 days I would try out a different exercises everyday and then post about my different findings.

Here are the exercises I am going to try for the next 10 days

1.Bicycling
2.Roller Blading
3.Trampoline
4.Walking
5.Dance
6.Yoga
7.Martial Arts
8.Swimming
9.Weight Training
10.Wii Fit

I think that trying different things will be good for me. I am starting to get tired of always doing to same thing. That isn't good for my motivation.

Today I will start with bicycling. Stay tuned for my review of that activity afterwards.

Working out

I've done it. I really didn't feel like working out today. I was feeling lazy and tired and honestly a little sad. I watched Micheal Jackson public memorial today and it was really sad to see how many people will be missing him, especially his kids.

Anytime someone dies it's really sad but it's also a realisation that life it short and it could end anytime. That is why we should be making the best of everyday. At least that's what I told myself to get motivated to work out today.

I did 1 hour of taebo. I use the Billy Blank's Ultimate Boot Camp a lot. It is fun and motivating. It is a mix of cardio and martial arts.

I think that it doesn't matter which exercises I choose, the important thing is to keep moving.

I am going to bed and I will be strong again tomorrow.

Loose weight without dieting

Many sources promise just that. Many books promise to lose weight with diets or get rock hard abs with different exercise machine. I want to believe it’s true but it seams to good to be true.

The real way to loose weight is buy eating less.

It’s easy to say but a little harder to do, right?

Well it isn’t that hard once you follow a few guide lines. It’s never easy but it gets easier.

The problem for me is that I always felt hungry and I let that control my life. Anyone who has ever tried dieting knows how it feels. You feel like you are deprived. The result often is not sticking to your diet. That’s why diets don’t work.

Instead of dieting, try to eat less everyday. Don’t let the traditional way to thinking drive you. Don’t clean your plate; instead focus on always leaving a little on your plate. Gradually you will find that you need less food to feel satisfied.

Follow the following 7 steps to eating less

1. Smaller Plate.

Let’s be honest. We have been told all of our life to eat everything on our plate. Even if I’m not hungry I’m always compelled to eat everything that’s on my plate. The saying “The eyes are bigger than the stomach” surely applied to me.
If you are like me, you’ve been brainwashed into cleaning every thing on your plate. Well the solution to this is that you should start eating out of a smaller plate. Having a portion-sized meal on a large plate makes it look empty and it feels like it won’t be enough to satisfy your hunger. Eating a smaller plate will make the portion look bigger and more satisfying.

Next time you are eating try it and see for yourself how well it works. Not only will you be able to eat everything on your plate but you will also be amazed at how less food you will be eating since you probably won’t be going back for a second portion.

2. Make sure you are hungry before eating

The next time you go to put food in your mouth, ask yourself a question. Are you REALLY hungry? Does your body really need that food, that snack, or that second portion at dinner? If the answer is a definite yes, then go ahead and eat. If you find yourself answering that question with an honest NO or even a maybe, then you might just be bored, sad or depressed. Instead of eating do something that will make you feel better. Sometimes the only thing you need is something to distract you from thinking about food. Drink a glass of water, call a friend, take a walk, read a book etc.

3. Change your snaking habits

Instead of snaking on chips or cookies try fruits and vegetables.
Snacks aren't necessarily bad for you. Healthy snacks can help keep your metabolic rate and your energy level up. They also can prevent your from overeating between and during meals.

You can have fruits or a good yogurt or even dried fruits. If you love popcorn you could buy an air popper and eat popcorn without added salt or butter (add more flavor with sea salt, or other seasonings such as paprika, cayenne).

Baby carrots are great because you can bring it every where. Popsicles made with 100% fruit juice or yogurt is very satisfying and refreshing. Frozen or canned fruit with low fat yogurt or in a smoothie are a great way to feel satisfied.

In my opinion, anything that doesn’t contain a lot of calories and a lot of fat is a good snack but fruits and veggies are the best way to go.

If for some reason those still won’t do and you have to have that chip or that
cookie than have only one or two instead of heating the whole bag.

4. Indulge but don’t go overboard

You don't want to feel deprived or hungry all the time, that’s why you want to cut calories but you want to feel satisfied. If you start to feel deprived or hungry between meals then have a healthy snack.

Don't count calories; just try to watch your portions. Within a matter of a couple of weeks, you will be adjusted to the new serving sizes and they will seem.

Cut out high-calorie condiments and sugars. Instead of getting a coffee with sugar, have a coffee with Splenda. Instead of having a sandwich with a lot of mayonnaise, have a sandwich with a little bit of light mayonnaise. Try mustard or ketchup on your hamburger instead of mayonnaise. Order salad dressing on the side so that you can control the amount you put in the salad.

5. Anticipate temptation.

If you know you can't resist cookies or ice cream than don't keep at home. If you are going somewhere with friends and family and you know you'll have a hard time controlling yourself, make a decision before you get there about what you will eat and stick to it. Tell your family and friend to help you stick to that decision.

Having a strong support system is great since you don’t have to do it alone. Your family and friends can’t do it for you but they can certainly cheer you on and help you.

If you are going to the restaurant ask the waiter if there are smaller portions available so that you won’t end up eating to much.

6. Limit the calories you drink.

Drinks are hidden calories for most people. I never used to think that buy drinking juice I was actually getting fatter. Well some drink can have lots of calories. Try to limit the amount of calorie filled beverage you drink. Go for the less calories equivalence or even better drink a glass of water. It is really best if you skip or limit your amount of soda. There is nothing healthy about soda. Diet sodas come in calorie-free versions, which are much better options if you have to have soda.

Drink 100% juice. Juice isn’t the same as having a piece of fruit or vegetable. Make sure it is 100% juice and doesn’t have added sugar or sweetener.

Limit your consumption of sports drinks, vitamin waters and flavored waters. A lot people don’t realize that there are a surprising number of calories found in those.

7. Drink lots of water.

Drinking plain old water is a great way to make sure you aren’t consuming excess calories. Water is calorie-free and good for the body. Plus if you are managing your water needs well, you won't feel overly thirsty and resort to unhealthy alternatives.

Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize fats. An increase in water intake can reduce fat deposits.Drinking water is important if you're trying to lose weight, some studies have shown that thirst and hunger sensations are triggered together. If there is a slight dehydration the thirst mechanism may be mistaken for huger and one may eat when the body is actually craving fluid. As most food contains some water, if one doesn't drink much they may be subconsciously driven to eat more to gain the necessary water supply. Drink 8 glasses of water each day and it should help you eat less.

In Conclusion

Combined with a good exercise program, eating less and better should help you achieve your weigh loss goal. Try eating smaller portion, try to snack on healthier food and try to drink lots of water. This should help you loose weight and become healthier. What ever you do don’t give up it will be hard at first but it is so worth it. Do this for yourself. Take the time for yourself you are so worth it.

Good luck to you on this journey to finding your slim self.

The begginning

For as far as I can remember, food as always played an important part in my life. I've always enjoyed eating. I remember being bribed with food. My mom would use desert to make me do stuff I didn't want to do. You probably heard something like that too.

"Clean your room and if you do a good job I will give you a big piece of cake"

or

"Finish your plate and you can get desert"

The problem with that is that now when I do something good I want to reward myself. Most of the time I reward myself with food. I just recently realised that this is really counterproductive since I'm not rewarding myself I'm actually making myself fatter.

I am overweight and I want to loose weight. I have already lost 50 lbs but I need to loose another 30 lbs and I can't seem to loose it. I actually think I am starting to gain again. So here is the start of a new journey.

I will work out every day and my reward will be to write on my blog once I've done my work out. If I don't work out I don't write on the blog. I will have to push myself every day so that I can write everyday. I hope that I get a few readers that can hold my liable.

I will workout tonight and then write about it.
